In-Mind is a volunteer-based online science-communication journal dedicated to making psychological research accessible and engaging for everyone. By publishing articles and blog posts that are both comprehensive and approachable, we bridge the gap between academia and the public and inspire curiosity across readers of all backgrounds.

Our content spans all areas of psychology, always presented in a way that sparks thought and fosters understanding. We feature both regular issues covering a wide range of psychological topics and special issues focusing on timely and relevant themes. To maintain high academic standards, all our publications are authored by active researchers and rigorously peer-reviewed.

We invite you to explore our articles, learn from leading psychological research, and join us in making psychology accessible for everyone! Our editorial board is available to support researchers without prior experience in science communication, ensuring that their work reaches and resonates with a broader audience.

Motivation

At In-Mind, we believe that psychology should be shared, not locked behind paywalls. That’s why we offer researchers a platform to communicate their work to a broader audience — whether they are seasoned communicators or new to science communication. Reading and writing for In-Mind is completely free of charge. All our team members work at In-Mind on a volunteer-basis without receiving a compensation for their work. As the International edition of In-Mind, we aim to reach curious minds from across the globe. Regional versions of the journal also publish articles in German, French, Italian, and Dutch.

History

In-Mind was founded in 2006 by Hans IJzerman as an online magazine with brief articles summarizing research from social psychology. In 2015, the magazine extended its scope and has since published articles in all areas of psychology. After a brief hiatus, the International edition of In-Mind was relaunched in autumn 2023 with fresh energy and a renewed commitment to accessible science.
